BRIEF

This incredibly popular Holiday village site at Sibton Park required additional ancillary accommodation. In relocating the existing reception and laundry to new purpose built facilities on site, this enabled the creation of an additional holiday let unit within the Manor House.

CHALLENGES

The area of the Manor House requiring conversion had previously been used as a laundry and thus mechanical services were in abundance, careful re-routing and concealing where possible was necessary. The proposed site for the new reception adjacent to the car park would require a building of architectural merit to justify its approval.

DESIGN SOLUTIONS

The new reception building was designed to be a lightweight contemporary pavilion, with a monotone palette of materials comprising a flint plinth, profiled oak boarding and a patinated zinc roof covering. A fully glazed gable end maximised the views over the adjacent fields and cricket pitch, oak louvres to the apex were designed to reduce solar gain .
