BRIEF

The Valley of Visions Landscape Partnership approached the practice to produce a condition survey, schedule of repair and administer the contract for the repairs to this Scheduled Ancient Monument.

CHALLENGES

The wall had been repointed in recent years with a cementitious mortar and this was beginning to cause superficial cracking and fissures within the rag stone. An experienced contractor and a sensitive approach was required to ensure no further damage was caused to the stone work during the repairs.

New stone was carefully selected from a local quarry and lime mortar samples were prepared prior to work starting to ensure seamless integration.
